Omega Speedmaster FOIS numbered edition
Omega Speedmaster FOIS numbered edition
This is another fantastic Speedmaster. This one is the FOIS - First Omega In Space - an edition to commemorate NASA’s foray into the great unknown. It is a essentially a re-issue of the watch that Wally Schirra was wearing the first time he left Earth’s atmosphere in 1962. Beneath the skin of this beauty beats a strong and gorgeous heart, the manual wind 1861 movement. That glorious engine is housed in Omega’s new straight-lug 39.7 mm case with polished and brushed finishes. Full set with big box and accessories as shown.
This reference was introduced 50 years after Wally used his own 2998 during the ‘Sigma 7’ mission and is a faithful re-edition down to the last detail. It looks like it could have been worn in the 1960s, today, or 100 years from now. If you make this one your own, perhaps your great, great grandson will be wearing it in space in 2120.
