The Speedmaster Mk40 has had a bit of a renaissance in the last couple of years thanks mainly to Hodinkee. The reference that famously started it all for Mr. Clymer was used as the basis for a limited edition Speedmaster made by Omega for Hodinkee. This particular example is in very good used condition. It has just the right amount of wear to make it look broken in and wearable every day. The design speaks for itself with the beautiful dial and added functionality of day, date, and month displays as well as a 24hr subdial...not to mention the 12 hour chronograph! The day and date are both quick set (day with pusher and date with crown). An automatic movement beats inside this beauty for ease of use. This one truly has it all. A very nice set with boxes, books, warranty card, and leather card holder as shown.

I can only imagine that the type of person who bought one of these new (like Ben’s uncle) had an eye for design and style and also the desire for precision and accuracy - an architect or an unusually outgoing engineer, perhaps?
