Seamaster 70th Anniversary Limited Edition 1948
Seamaster 70th Anniversary Limited Edition 1948
The year is 1948 and everyone in the free world is still celebrating the liberation of Europe. The war is over, and factories have resumed their “normal” duties. Veterans are excited and are now exploring and recreating in many new ways. They need a watch that can handle anything. A short time later comes the Seamaster 300, a truly robust dive watch; but the inaugural Seamaster is no slouch. It was based on designs of a watch that Omega made for Second World War Airmen and came in two variants: a three hand version and one with small seconds at six o’clock. The watch you see here is a re-edition of the latter. This is one gorgeous watch and the small seconds gives it just that little bit of interesting visual detail. It has a decidedly vintage feel to it without being too small and light. It measures 38mm and has a lug width of 19mm. Everything is executed to perfection including the laser engraved and hand lacquered 70th Anniversary logo on the caseback. A Chris-Craft boat and Gloster Meteor aircraft are beautifully pictured. This watch is in very good used condition and includes double box, book, Certificate of Authenticity, and cards as shown. Also included is an unused commemorative NATO strap and strap changing tool.
